Last week we had a nice little everyone-brings-something dinnerdate for the whole class. It was super delicious. ..I still dont know why we first thought we dont have enough food - I think I rolled out there.

Time To Say ByeBye To Chucks

Okay.. what the hell did I think when I put on tiny, thin little fabric shoes yesterday to go to school? That I also have them on in winter in Switzerland? That -23 degrees arent that cold after all? THAT I CAN BUY NEW TOES AT THE GROCERY STORE?! Seriously.. it is time for some real winter shoes. Gonna go next week (or the one after christmas, so Im not gonna get overrun by crazies) and find me some nice, black, ankle high, laced boots. Something like the ones in the second picture.

Hej There

Its too bad that my textile class at university is soon gonna come to an end because it really is much fun. The last few days (weeks) have been kinda stressfull at times, but the girls are always there to keep me company and we overall just have a great time togheter. Gonna miss that.

Wearing things that are important to me: My mams old skirt, my bfs shirt, the key to my old room home in Switzerland, double-ring found in Umea, hand-knitted socks from my aunt.

Freeezing Cold

So the snow has come, togheter with a gigantic (!) temperatur drop. It is like minus 23 degrees and the doorhandle is frozen on the inside. During those three to four hours of daylight we have the landscape with all the snow is looking absolutely beautiful. But since it is gonna be like this from now on until May (2010!) I know for sure that Im at one point gonna get sick of it.

Progress!

The piece Ive been intensly working on for the last two days is starting to look like I hoped it would. Do you see the reference? Well, well .. Im gonna keep you updated about the progress of this one.

Im off now to rest my (very tired after two days of slicing) fingers. And my poor, frozen toes (we had minus 22 degrees today).

Plucked the berries in the forest during summer, freezed them down and am now happy over a little reminder of the warm and light summertime.

New Stuff On the Way

Lately I am spending an aweful lot of time at university. Don't get me wrong, I reallyreally like it - but I seriously have to learn to sit straight when sewing, because my back is starting to kill me. Or I have to search myself a physiotherapist and Im still just too young for that. The good point of spending so much time there is you get a lot done. As like my new lace-leggins, a quickie that only took me 30 minutes and that are great for layering and a new bodycon velvet dress with power sleeves. Black of course.

Between Light And Darkness

If there is any good thing about this time of the year in Sweden then it is the two or three hours we actually have something like 'light' here. Although you shouldnt expect something crazy like bright sunshine you can get the most beautiful colours on the horizon. And as soon as you see them you just run outside to catch a bit daylight .. before it is getting night at 2 pm again.

The Food Watch

A bit sick after an amazing party on friday. So here is just a quick food-watch-thingy. Its fish (already forget again what kind exactly but it melted on my tongue) on a sherry sauce with walnuts and salt-potatoes with fresh basil next to a fresh tomatoe-avocado salad. Mh-mh.

WorkWorkWork

So after finishing my Dream-Dress-Project I took a short break, but now Im back behind the sewing machine again. The goal this time is to finish a mini-mini-mini collection for school until the middle of January, my theme is geometry, the colors are as usual and the fun level high. This is the final project for this class and Im really gonna try to do it right.

Gonna try to keep posting pictures of the process. Right now Im experimenting with black-on-black prints and slicing the hell out of fake leather fabrics. And constructing patterns, of course. While balancing on tables.

HairHairHair

No, I didn't lie, I really cut my hair, stop asking. Here is proof.

Oh, and I lovelovelove it! Don't know if I love that much how it looks like but I sure do love the fact that I dont strangle myself at night anymore and it only takes 15 minutes to wash/comb/dry it. Even put on a blue dress for the occasion. Wohee!

There Is A Garbage Bag On My Head

Playing around with materials I made this little head-thingy out of a garbage bag that was laying around. So its four layers of garbage bag, ironed togheter (it was smelling baaad), cut into little triangles, sewn onto an elastic band. Like the texture super much that turned out a bit different everywhere, slightly leather-ish.

Was hard to take a picture, myself, without tripod. Gonna try to take better ones some other day.

ITunes killed The Radiostar

Can you believe it? Todays Ear Candy was already the last for 2009, now we have awell-earned break at the radio-station, we are back in January 2010. There are just 24 days left of this year. Crazyness.

Schnipp Schnapp Haare Ab

As a little girl I had really long hair. Then when I was like eleven or so I decided to cut it all away at once (I think my mama cried a tiny bit) and from then on always had super short hair and always was the tomboy. Now like four years ago I decided that it is time to see how it feels to have long hair. And yes, it does make you feel way more feminin. But after not cutting it for four years I have grown quiet tired of it. It was annoying that it takes an hour to wash, comb, dry it. It was hurting at night, when I accidently rolled on it and wrapped it around me. I have much and thick hair and it was hurting every single morning when I tried to comb out the knots from the night.

So today I had it. I didnt even want to loose the time to book an appointment at a hairdresser, I just took my scissors and started cutting. It feels great and I know in my heart Ive always been a short haired girl. Pictures later this weekend.

Cozying Up

Im trying to be better prepared for the swedish winter this year than I was last year. So Im stocking up on socks, gloves and scarfs. This one here is my new favorite one. Its black and drapped and having endless possibilities. And it originally was a leftover piece of skin-coloured jersey that I dyed black and then just recut the edges so theyre a bit more smooth, thats all.

Learning From Gareth

As I wrote very quickly on monday Gareth Pugh was in the SHOWsudio live studio and broadcasted from there during three days the process of creating a new dress. For me this was one of the most amazing and inspiring things during the last months to see - really to see how one of my favorite designers is getting to work, creating pattern and sewing was a great opurtunity.

It was also very interesting to see with what kind of almost obsessiv energy Gareth is creating. Plus seeing him working on the floor and on the domestic machines was very encouraging. Now I just hope, that SHOWstudio is gonna upload the whole thing as a video because the stream sometimes was really bad, I guess theyve just had way more viewers than expected.
