Cozying Up

Im trying to be better prepared for the swedish winter this year than I was last year. So Im stocking up on socks, gloves and scarfs. This one here is my new favorite one. Its black and drapped and having endless possibilities. And it originally was a leftover piece of skin-coloured jersey that I dyed black and then just recut the edges so theyre a bit more smooth, thats all.

The Dream Dress Project III

Its done. After four intense weeks of researching, sketching, groupwork and sewing, my dress is finished. Its in different shades of black (yeah, big surprise there) and in fake-leather, plast, metal and everything else amazing. It is fitting like a glove. Its transformable - with the cowl on it is dramatic, without chic and simple. Im not gonna wear it to go groceries shopping .. but Im sure gonna find the right event.

We even did a super short "photoshoot". Black fabric found in the music class, two office lights, compact camera, voilà. Thanks to Frida for being my photographer & to Tinah for doing the light)

DIY Rodarte Knit Tights

Ever since the Rodarte Knit Thights were hitting the runnway in their AW08 collection every blogger out there has been all over them. So yes, I know that I'm like one year late on this one. BUT I was still lusting after them. AND as previously also on other blogs like on Kingdom Of Style or by Susie Bubble discused - blogs arent the real world, everyone. Just because the (actually kinda tiny although it of course doesnt feel like that to us) blogworld is declaring something as the new shit doesnt mean youre gonna be the new style-girl in town. More like you gonna get weird looks. And when the blogworld is already long over something H&M is just starting to catch up.

SO after I said that - I just had to make myself a pair. Now you see, I didnt have luxurious mohair to knit in, just took regular yarn and switched between needlesizes 30, 10 and 3. Started of with 4 stiches and increased slowly, constantly trying them on again during the process to fit them right. So its fully complete with feet and hip. Done in like four hours while watching tv - AAAND they are actually quiet warm. 'Yeah, right...' you think now, but really, all those holes must somehow have magical powers and keep warmth not too bad.

SOOO Im super happy, end.

The Dream Dress Project

After intense sketching and insperation seeking last week the construction process for the dress Im doing for my school project has finally started this week.

Yesterday I spent thinking out the pattern, today I cut it out, tried it out in fabric and made the last adjustments, then cut the pattern in the real fabric. Tomorrow is sewing time, hooray!

..Are you already guessing it? Strong, fitted shape, shoulder-focus, black.. yeah, I know, no surprises there.

One Left, One Right, One Left, One ..

I guess it's just because of winter and the cold and everything but I have really been knitting much lately. Have also tried to step out of my comfort zone and try out a bit more difficult stuff than just straight & right. Super excited to show you my take on the (blog-)famous Rodarte knit-thights, but thats not gonna happen until next week or so.

So until then, here are my favorit patterns of the moment (click for bigger pictures).
